The crisis in Darfur has claimed more than 200,000 lives and affected 2.5 million others. It extends beyond the confines of the war-torn regions of Sudan to communities all over the country where lives have been ripped apart by violence.

In and around Khartoum, where Sudan-Reach works, there are about two million displaced persons, a growing  number of whom are from Darfur. These internally displaced persons face deplorable living conditions, chronic poverty, and limited access to resources or educational opportunities.

What is the Safe-House Project? This project will provide a sanctuary for homeless women, refugees, and displaced persons. The Safe-House will be based in Khartoum and will provide much-needed shelter, food, clothing, job-training and support for Darfurian women and children affected by the war.
