The
crisis in Darfur has claimed more than 200,000 lives and affected
2.5 million others. It extends beyond the confines of the war-torn
regions of
Sudan
to communities all over the country where lives have been ripped
apart by violence.
In
and around Khartoum, where Sudan-Reach works, there are about two
million displaced persons, a growing number of whom are from Darfur.
These internally displaced persons face
deplorable living conditions, chronic poverty, and limited access
to resources or educational opportunities.
What
is the Safe-House Project? This
project will provide a sanctuary for homeless women, refugees, and
displaced persons. The Safe-House will be based in Khartoum
and will provide much-needed
shelter, food, clothing, job-training and support for Darfurian women and
children affected by the war.

Like
all of our programs at Sudan-Reach, the Safe-House Project will be
entirely volunteer-run--ensuring that the funds go directly to the
individuals who need them most.
Why
walk? Walk with us to help provide resources, training, and development
opportunities to women who have lost everything. Walk to help us
provide meals, clothing and basic healthcare services to women who
have no were else to turn. Walk to restore
dignity to the women of Darfur!
