Investing in the education of young women and girls is a significant alleviator of poverty. At Sudan-Reach, this fundamental human right is our highest priority.
The Women’s Education Initiative increases access to education by adopting and renovating schools and supplementing tuition costs. But our work does not end there, we go even further to provide special programs that increase girls’ awareness of environmental issues, hygiene, health, and social rights. For example, we engage students in environmental campaigns by involving them in school clean-ups and gardening projects.
The Girls’ schools we work with vary in size, but at a minimum serve 300+ girls. They often lack clean water and proper ventilation –two absolute necessities amidst the rampant thirst and scorching heat of Sudan’s long summers.
